After five years of architectural education I founded the one-man design operation Studio KIES. This decision formed the opportunity to broaden my professional perspective and to make time to pursue another passion, rowing. Previous academic and practical experiences have offered a nuanced design philosophy, as well as a diverse set of skills that I now apply in freelance projects. Central to this design approach is a thought process with the hand; sketching, model making, form an essential part of exploring and communicating design ideas. Over the course of my architecture studies, I have offered a distinct perspective on architecture and design and their societal importance. This perspective embraces small thinking and human-scale design: design that contributes to a better living environment without pretentious expression or overwhelming costs.
